Ashley Grauberger

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) there are many endangered species all over the world and some more than others. The IUCN helps the world find pragmatic solutions to our most pressing environment and development challenges.

The most critically endangered types of deer/antelope are the Addax, Hirola, Ader’s Duiker, Dama Gazelle, and the Saiga. These are found in parts of Africa, Europe as well as Asia. They are getting killed off because of other predators eating them or because of people hunting them.

Why Do Sea Turtles Need Solar Panels?

Posted by: Grant Barbeito in Wildlife Conservation

Grant Barbeito

Five things you may or may not know about sea turtles: They can live 80 years or longer. They're important to ocean and beach ecologies. They're immune to (and happily feed on) deadly box jellyfish. The turtle journal (Day 1)

Today we begin a journey. Two inexperienced (in film) sisters sit in a quiet bedroom in the early evening, thinking. We discuss camera angles, locations for filming, possible interviews, questions that need to be asked, ideas that need to be emphasized and knowledge that we wish to share. Not quite  sure how accomplish any of the things we are discussing, we begin.

This all started a few nights ago while sister R was checking an e-mail she had received from sister G earlier during that day. Not really reading it, she answered enthusiastically with a "YES!". The e-mail contained a flyer for a documentary film competition. The point is, one thing led to another and here we are. Laughing at the job we are pretending to do some minutes and actually doing it the next few minutes. We are experimenting with the cameras features and thinking of a storyboard, we are also eating pudding as we think because it helps.

Wildlife experts in the United States have announced an ambitious plan to rescue hundreds of turtle nests and eggs from the potential impacts of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Using a strategy never tested before on such a massive scale, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will coordinate the collection of around 80,000 eggs from 800 nests on the beaches of Alabama and northwest Florida and move them hundreds of miles away to the oil-free Atlantic coast.

While BP struggles to finally seal the leaking Gulf of Mexico oil well, an equally desperate battle has been enjoined on the surface to save endangered sea turtles from meeting an oily grave.

Jane Lubchenco, head of the US government's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), said Tuesday that some 180 turtles had been rescued so far and that 170 were still in rehabilitation.
