Earth Charter Youth Group for Social Empowerment and Development is a community based, non-Auldriprofit making, and non partisan and interdenominational organization. It began in August, 2008 after the session E-glo Earth Charter E-learning training in leadership and interactions for young people leaders and all other people to expand the Earth Charter activities world over.

During training the youth leaders and young people came together to show best they can come up with activities and programs to promote Earth Charter principles through the establishment of Earth Charter Youth Group for Social Empowerment and Development. To get the youth to get involved in Social, Environmental and Developmental issues

The increase in HIV and AIDS cases in Livingstone is due to it being a tourist capital, so we need to sensitize the youth on the dangers of HIV and its majors key drivers.

The socio-economic factors such as a poor food security, unemployment, high levels of illiteracy, poor sanitation and poor environmental care, therefore calls for Earth Charter Youth Group for Social Empowerment and Development-Livingstone, Zambia for an intervention to respond to the above challenges therefore supplementing government efforts to eradicate poverty and its levels of illiteracy in the country as whole.

The organization’s information was influenced by the above problems and discrepancies. It was formed so as to address the gap between the youth and to respond to HIV and AIDS, Environmental and Socio-Economic issue
