Hello I am Anilorac. You can see me as the writer of this blog.

My background: I am a tenth grade student at Environmental Charter High School and I belong to this organization known as Green Ambassadors.

green_ambassador1You may have heard of us or you may have not. As Green Ambassadors,we have done a lot for being teenagers. I personally have started, with my fellow students, a waste free lunch system at my school; I have also planted trees in Lawndale and my school, and many other projects like help out in organizations and have also gone to Disney studios.

I want to help other teenagers have their voices be heard about plastics. I will admit they are a great invention but with that said we don't use them properly or even know how to dispose of them. According to the Container Recycling Institute 25 billion single-serving bottles are used each year and out of those, 22 billion will go straight to a landfill. Also this was a real shocker that plastics contain petroleum I bet you didn't know that but not many people do so now, you know something some don't.

Currently we are working on a project known as Bring Your Own. The name what does it mean? Well we want all our school to stop using plastic forks and bring their own forks. The basics - we are making pouches for our forks that way students will want to bring them in a nice little pouch. green_ambassador2

According to Algalita Marine Research Foundation only 3.5% of plastics are recycled in any way. This means that all the plastic we consume, bottles and FORKS are not all getting recycled like they should. They are all going to landfills.
