Elephants being killed for their ivory | Unreported World

End of the Elephant?: Back in 2010 ivory poachers were massacring thousands of elephants in East Africa. Poaching fuelled a wave of guns, crime and bloodshed. Government officials played down the crisis but Unreported World was offered a million dollars worth of ivory. Ivory dealers claimed officials who are meant to stop poaching are in their pockets. And all this to feed a black market for ivory in China. This episode first aired on 26/03/2010 when Unreported World went to Kenya. Since making this documentary the global ivory trade has been heavily criminalised.
