Colorado Carbon Fund
The Colorado Carbon Fund, a voluntary carbon offset program, was developed by the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) to develop a funding source for community-based clean energy and climate mitigation projects in Colorado.

It also supports Colorado’s climate change mitigation objectives and provides high quality, credible offsets for individuals, businesses and government agencies interested in mitigating their carbon footprint. Carbon offsets allow individuals, families and businesses to measure emissions from energy use and travel, reduce those emissions through energy efficiency and renewable energy and then purchase offsets for those unavoidable emissions.

These offsets support projects such as increasing energy efficiency in schools, buildings, or transportation; generating energy from renewable sources, like wind or solar; capturing methane from animal waste and using it to generate energy at farms; and modifying a power plant or factory to use fuels that lower emissions.

The Colorado Carbon Fund will only support new, verifiable, greenhouse gas reduction projects that are developed in Colorado. The GEO is partnering with The Climate Trust, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, to manage this program, so donations to the Colorado Carbon Fund are tax deductible.
